Hi guys! My defining characteristic would be my goofiness. I love the water so much that I can’t control myself as soon as a hose near me turns on, I would play all day long. If my future family could get me a doggie pool, I couldn’t imagine a happier place. I am a very affectionate dog. If you tell me to come, I will bring you any toy nearby to show it off. Food motivates me a lot so I consistently am learning new tricks. As much as I love my shelter family, I would really love to find my forever home that would allow me to swim and play in the water all day long.
Thousands of cats get adopted from shelters each year. These cats have found their forever homes with loving families. Many times these families would love to celebrate their cat’s birthdays but are unsure of when their birthday actually is. That was what lead to Catober 1st being deemed as the universal birthday for shelter/adopted cats.
International Homeless Animals Day is a day to spread awareness on pet overpopulation. There is an incredible overpopulation of dogs and cats worldwide, which leads to so many dogs and cats becoming homeless. This day is celebrated on the 3rd Saturday of August each year.
Hi my name is Jack! I am estimated to be between 2 and 5 years old. I am an American Staffordshire Terrier Mix. I have been living at the Humane Society of St. Lucie County for almost a year now. My family gave up on me in September 2020. A request to my future family: I would really love a mini dog pool, I loooove the water. Could you please play fetch with me? It’s my favorite. I can’t wait to love on you and for all the hugs. I want all the attention I can get so I would prefer a home with no other animals. I also am a pretty big boy so I prefer older children in the home.
Hi everyone! My name is Lego. I am currently living in a foster home. I have been in and out of the shelter my entire life. Each time I was returned I was more heartbroken, I didn’t understand why I was brought back. The family that adopted me just couldn’t find time for me. My other family decided to move to a new home that didn’t allow dogs. I have been let down so many times and had started to lose hope, that’s when my shelter family decided to find me a foster home.
Dogust 1st is an opportunity to look into the world of these wonderful animals who are waiting for a family. This day we can return the unconditional love and adoration they give us and help find them a home that is full of the love they deserve. Find out ways to celebrate!
Hi everyone! My name is Bear. I am an American Staffordshire, Terrier Mix and only 1-2 years old. I have spent the last 5 months with my friends here at the Humane Society of St. Lucie County. I would really love to find my furever home soon! The other dogs kind of intimidate me so living in an animal shelter makes me very stressed and depressed. I can’t wait to find my best friend and be in a calmer environment. Make sure to come to the shelter ask to meet me outside of my kennel, Bear, this month’s pet of the month!
Fleas are the most common external parasites of dogs and cats. Adult fleas are most commonly found on their host (could be your pet) and the immature fleas are found in the pet’s close environment. Your animal isn’t likely to pick up fleas from coming into contact with a flea-infested animal but rather coming into contact with an infested environment. With warmer weather here, flea infestations are more common. If you have found one flea, that flea could have already laid up to 100,000 eggs. It is time to take action.
We are here to help you. Fleas can be kept at bay if you are readied with the best tips and techniques to drive them away.
